Senior Pastor
Pastor Jesse surrendered for full time pastoral ministry in 2001 and began serving as a pastor since 2004 and senior pastor since 2006. Aside from his teaching, preaching and pastoral duties at RBC, he travels around the region to work with with likeminded church planters and missionaries to strengthen churches and their members.
Preacher
Bro. Jack is our bi-lingual preacher, fluent in English & Mandarin. In addition, he heads up our Music ministry and reinforces everyone's learning by challenging us with weekly Quizzes.

Aside from preaching boldly God's Word, Bro. Roy leads our AV team, ensuring that our audio, visuals and recordings operate smoothly without disruption.
The conviction behind this new work had been growing for several years.
At its heart was the responsibility to obey Christ's Great Commission, including establishing churches in Singapore and overseas. Alongside that responsibility stood a conviction about the church itself: a New Testament church is a congregation of people who have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ. Its membership, worship, service, and mission begin there. These were biblical essentials that we could not set aside.
That conviction gave Re:born its name.
In John 3, Nicodemus came to speak with Jesus. He was a Pharisee, a ruler of the Jews, and a respected teacher of Israel. Yet Jesus told him that he needed to be born again. Religious standing, knowledge, and outward righteousness could not take the place of the new birth. Christ's words in John 3:5–7 became our church's key passage and the reason for our name: Re:born Baptist Church.
The colon in "Re:born" also expresses something of our character. We are grounded in the preserved Word of God, whose truth is timeless and unchanging, and we welcome thoughtful ways to serve people in a changing world. Three of our four original preachers trained as engineers, and our pastor spent many years developing software. That background brings a willingness to learn, build, and use new technology, with every approach subject to Scripture.
Through prayer and seeking the Lord, a series of events led to the formation of Re:born as a mission work under the authority of Indian River Baptist Church in Edgewater, Florida. Dr. Keith Allen Taylor served as the sending church pastor.
Beginning a church during a pandemic was not the timing we would have chosen. During those unsettled years, some people had stopped attending church, while others were looking for a new congregation. The Lord brought some who were seeking a new church to Re:born. Looking back, we can see His wisdom in the timing of our beginning.
Approval from the Registry of Societies did not come quickly. We had prayed for three years through a long period of silence. Then came a flurry of activity as we addressed constitutional issues, followed by the answer we had been praying for.
We now look forward to being organised by Indian River Baptist Church as an independent and fully autonomous church. This remains a step ahead of us, and we continue to seek the Lord's guidance as we prepare.
Mission
To glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ—rooted in Scripture, growing in grace, and sent to love our neighbours. We seek the salvation of everyone we meet: that people would trust Christ, be baptised, and grow in their walk with Christ and the Holy Spirit through God's Word. Making disciples is the work Christ has given us, here in Singapore and through establishing and strengthening churches beyond our shores.
Values
The Word, the Gospel, the local church, discipleship, and prayer shape our worship, teaching, fellowship, and mission. Our conservative practices come from a commitment to obey Scripture—tradition itself is not our authority. Grounded in the preserved Word of God, whose truth is timeless and unchanging, we welcome thoughtful ways to serve people in a changing world, learning, building, and using new technology with every approach subject to Scripture.
Church body
We are a New Testament church: a congregation of people who have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ, with membership, worship, service, and mission beginning there. We value the direct responsibility of every believer before God, the priesthood of believers, local church autonomy, and the two ordinances of believer's baptism and the Lord's Supper.
Re:born Baptist Church began in April 2021, with Sunday worship shared by livestream from living rooms around Singapore. At our pastor's home, a small group gathered in the living room while he conducted the livestream from his study. Restrictions limited how many people could gather in a home, so we rotated small groups for lunch and fellowship. Our sermons were initially recorded on Saturdays; later, our pastor began preaching live during the Sunday livestream.
The disruption also gave us room to reconsider how we did things. We invested much more in video than we otherwise would have and made greater use of social media. When an infection or quarantine could keep an entire family at home, we learned to organise our ministry team so that members could cover for one another at short notice. Each brought particular skills, while responsibilities overlapped enough for the team to adapt when plans changed.
By the end of 2021, we continued to worship by livestream in the mornings and met at Metropolitan YMCA for an afternoon service. Around the end of 2022 or early 2023, the Lord provided a hall where we could gather on Sunday mornings. Lunch together then became a monthly gathering at our pastor's home on the fourth Sunday of the month.
In November 2024, our registration with the Registry of Societies was approved — a significant milestone in the life of the church. The story of the conviction and the Lord's leading behind these events is told under Vision & God's Leading above.
